Undocumented Students


DACA AND UNDOCUMENTED STUDENTS ARE WELCOME

Oakland University is committed to creating and supporting a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment for all community members; as well as those visiting our campus. Application Process

Oakland University encourages the application and enrollment of undocumented students.

Students may apply online (paper applications are also available upon request). If you do not have a social security number, you may leave the field blank. For an overview of the university’s application and admission requirements, entering freshmen may visit sdwsjg.com/freshmen, and transfer students may visit sdwsjg.com/transfer.

The application for admission is free. The SAT or ACT are not currently required for admission or merit scholarship consideration. OU requires a 2.5 or higher high school GPA for admission as a freshman student, and a 2.5 or higher college GPA for admission as a transfer student.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Some individuals may be eligible for in-state tuition rates if they graduated from an accredited Michigan high school (after attending for a minimum of three years) and are not legal residents of the United States. This eligibility extends for 40 months following high school graduation. Financial aid, including federal, state, and many institutional aid sources, requires recipients to be U.S. citizens and permanent residents; therefore, funding opportunities rely on merit-based awards at Oakland University. Students are encouraged to use every opportunity before and during college to find internal and external scholarships to offset the cost of attendance.

Scholarships are available for students beginning at a 3.0 overall GPA; please visit our Scholarships, Tuition and Financial Aid page for more specific information.

Entering freshman students from Pontiac may also use any applicable Pontiac Promise Zone award money to assist with unmet financial need.
